Local law enforcement agencies escorted a group of Wyoming National Guard troops before their deployment on Monday, a Casper Police Department spokeswoman said.

"It's tradition for us to escort our troops from Wyoming when they go off for deployment, so we were really proud and privileged to be able to show our support that way," Rebekah Ladd said.

A representative from the National Guard contacted the police department early Monday, Ladd said. The department and the Natrona County Sheriff's Office recruited officers to join the escort, she said.

The procession with about 25 soldiers went from the National Guard Armory on CY Avenue near Paradise Valley to the Casper-Natrona County Airport, she said.

The soldiers first will go to a training camp and then be sent overseas, Ladd said. She did not know where the camp or the overseas deployment would be.

Ladd did not know where the soldiers were from in Wyoming and when they would return.
