Casper Fire-EMS personnel evacuated a resident and a dog from a burning house in north Casper on Saturday morning, according to a news release Saturday night.

The fire department received and responded to the report at 10:30 a.m. that smoke was seen coming from the house in the 900 block of North Beech Street.

The first crew to arrive entered the house and removed the resident, who was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center by ambulance for evaluation.

The dog left the house when the door was opened.

The crew quickly extinguished the fire and prevented further damage to the home.
In total, five Casper Fire-EMS units responded, along with additional chief officers and an investigator. The department was assisted by Casper Police Department and the Wyoming Medical Center.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
