Townsquare Media of Casper invites everyone to come out and celebrate 20 years of music in the meadow with the Beartrap Summer Festival August 2nd and 3rd, featuring returning headliner The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. “We really wanted to give Festivarians something special for our 20th anniversary,” said Festival Coordinator Jana Price. “We’re so excited to bring the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band back to Casper. They were first here in 2008. They drew the largest crowd we’ve ever had, and they’re still amazing!”

Founded in 1966 in Long Beach, California, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band began its long and successful career as a country/folk/rock band. With hits like “Mr. Bojangles,” “Fishin’ in the Dark” and “I’ve Been Lookin,’” these fellas have racked up numerous CMA and Grammy nominations and awards over the years. They’ve performed with iconic artists from Roy Acuff and Earl Scruggs to Johnny Cash, EmmyLou Harris and Bruce Hornsby. From their self-titled album in 1967, through their “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” collaborations to their most recent “Speed of Life,” the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has entertained, amazed, and gratified enthusiastic fans for nearly 50 years.

Both days of the Festival feature a full line-up of local and nationally known artists; this year’s 20th Anniversary Celebration includes regional favorites Spencer Bohren, the Tremors – featuring Dale Bohren and Cory McDaniel, and Jalan Crossland, as well as Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, featuring Spencer Bohren’s son Andre Bohren, The Deadly Gentlemen, The Barefoot Movement and more.

Beartrap also includes an open-air marketplace full of arts and crafts, with a wide variety of foods from cold drinks and snacks to hot meals, a kids’ activities area, yoga classes in the meadow, and the VIP Club – perks of the club include VIP parking, shaded seating and libations. New to Beartrap this year is Camping in the Meadow.
