The acting head of Jackson's hospital has been charged with driving under the influence following a crash earlier this month.

The Jackson Hole Daily  reported Monday that St. John's Medical Center CEO John Kren was arrested Jan. 13 in the hospital's emergency room. He was brought there to be checked out after allegedly flipping his truck.

The 45-year-old was later released and has pleaded not guilty.

In a statement, Kren said he was "distressed and embarrassed" that he was involved in an accident and charged with DUI. He said nothing like this has ever happened to him before and said he would work to make sure it never happens again.

Hospital board president Michael Tennican said Kren's job performance has been exemplary and no questions have been raised about his conduct.
