A bill that would impose a 48-hour waiting period before performing non-emergency abortions has been filed in the Wyoming Legislature.

House Bill 140 is sponsored by freshman Rep. Richard Tass [R-Johnson/Sheridan counties].

The bill has several Republican co-sponsors in both the Wyoming  House and Senate.

The legislation would waive the waiting period requirement if a doctor judges the situation to be a medical emergency in which waiting 48 hours could endanger the mother.
