$1M Bond Set in Cheyenne Murder Case
Bond was set at $1 million cash Thursday for the man charged in connection with Monday's deadly shooting in east Cheyenne.
Andrew Weaver, 25, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Weaver is accused of opening fire at 3436 E. 11th Street on Sept. 16, killing 30-year-old Shaline Wymer and 37-year-old Adrien Butler and seriously injuring two 14-year-old boys.
According to an affidavit, one of the teens was "shot through the cheek of his face" and the other three victims were shot in the head. The teen shot in the head was life-flighted to Children's Hospital Colorado, where he remained hospitalized as of Thursday afternoon.
Weaver is also alleged to have shot at Armando Butler, who was able to avoid being struck by a bullet by falling to the floor.
Police say Weaver told them that he'd gone to the house with the intention of trading a gun for drugs and a different gun. He also said that he'd bought methamphetamine from Adrien Butler in the past.
Weaver was arrested in a nearby field a couple of hours after the shooting, and reportedly had a Smith & Wesson 9mm semiautomatic handgun on him. Weaver said he used the gun to shoot the victims, according to the affidavit.
Weaver is also charged in a separate docket with misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine. The charges stem from a Sept. 8 incident in which Weaver is alleged to have stolen a Century Arms 9mm handgun from William Pharoah.
Weaver's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
