1 Dead, 1 Injured After Car Goes Off I-25, Hits Tree Near Glendo
A driver was killed and his passenger injured after the car they were traveling in went off Interstate 25 and collided head-on with a tree, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
It happened around 5:49 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, near mile marker 116, about five miles north of Glendo.
According to a fatality crash summary, 49-year-old Colorado resident Zachary Bowman was driving south when he went off the left side of the interstate, over-corrected to the right, and went off the right side of the interstate.
"The driver again over-corrected back to the roadway and the vehicle began a passenger side leading slide down a steep embankment," the summary reads. "The vehicle tripped and rolled one complete time and collided head-on with a tree."
Bowman was not wearing his seat belt and died from his injuries.
His passenger was also reportedly injured in the crash but the summary did not say to what extent.
The summary says speed and driver inattention possibly contributed to the crash.
Bowman is the 23rd reported person to die on Wyoming's highways in 2023 compared to 12 in 2022, 17 in 2021, seven in 2020, and 18 in 2019 to date.
