Wyoming Federal Judges Sentence Six Men For Illegal Alien, Gun, Child Porn Crimes
Wyoming federal judges recently sentenced six men for firearms, child pornography, and illegal alien crimes, according to news releases from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.
U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced Quentin Eldon Oler, 31 of Glenrock for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Skavdahl sentenced Oler to two years, nine months of imprisonment to be served consecutively to a five- to 10-year sentence he received in Natrona County District Court for his conviction on one count of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. After his release from custody, he will be on supervised probation for three years.
The federal firearms case arose from Oler's involvement in a multi-state drug trafficking ring supplied by a foreign drug cartel.
This case was investigated by the Casper Police Department, the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Tory Rae Dixon, 42, of Cheyenne for transportation of child pornography. Dixon received 10 years of imprisonment, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation investigated this case.
In a similar case, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Joshua E. Poole, 40, of Sheridan for transportation of child pornography. Poole received five years of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised probation. Freudenthal also ordered him to pay $3,500 in restitution and a $100 special assessment.
The DCI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the FBI investigated this case.
Freudenthal also sentenced two Mexican nationals -- Roberto C. Montiel and Jose Rodolfo Montiel-Perez -- for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Both men were arrested in Casper.
They received time served plus 10 days to allow for deportation hearings and were ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.
Johnson sentenced Fulgensio Figueroa-Mencia, 44, of Las Loma, Honduras, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Figueroa-Mencia was arrested in Laramie. He received time served, plus 10 days, and was ordered to pay a special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody.
These cases were investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
