CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming may become involved in a major land deal in southeast Wyoming.

Albany County has been looking to acquire some 5,500 acres east of Laramie for $10.5 million. The land has promise for recreational opportunities including mountain biking.

A recent amendment to a purchase agreement between the county and property owner gives the university a $2 million option to buy some of the land.

The Wyoming Office of State Land and Investments is already part of negotiations to assist the deal by swapping state lands.

University Board of Trustees Chairman Dave True says he isn't sure yet when the board may decide to buy into the land deal.
