A Casper man will avoid prison time, after admitting that he choked his girlfriend.

Terry Jackson was given a four-to-five year suspended prison sentence with 3 years of probation, after he pleaded guilty to one felony charge of strangulation of a household member, and one count of domestic battery.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say in March, officers responded to a residence on Elma Street about a fight in a parking lot.

Jackson and his girlfriend had been fighting.

At one point, she opened a car door that hit and angered him.

He pushed her head against the car door frame, wrapped his arms around her with his left arm around her throat, and told her he would kill her.

During the plea change hearing, Jackson admitted that he snapped.

Prosecutors noted that he has 5 prior felony convictions.
