High Wind

The Wyoming Department of Transportation says it could be as late as 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, before Interstate 25 in southeast Wyoming reopens.

In accordance, the weather service has issued a high wind watch through Thursday evening.

Impacted areas include Park, Converse, Platte, Carbon, Albany and Laramie counties.

Recently, winds have exceeded 100 mph in several areas of the Cowboy State.

The blizzard warning in Carbon County is expected to continue until 5 p.m. Monday.

Elsewhere, the National Weather Service reports winter weather advisories and watches for portions of western Wyoming on Sunday and Monday.

The affected areas include Emigrant Gap and Bessemer Bend.

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Natrona County including Casper until 7 p.m. today.

The chance of precipitation is 60 percent later today and will increase to 70 percent early Tuesday for central Wyoming.

The wind will mostly impact transportation, but the NWS says power outages could occur, and a few trees could be toppled by the strong wind.
