A Sandy, Utah, resident died in a single rollover crash in the Star Valley on Saturday evening, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol

Michael J. Johnson, 42, was driving a car south on Wyoming Highway 238 when the vehicle left the road to the west about 1.5 miles north of Auburn at 7:20 p.m., according to the news release from Sgt. David Wagener.

After leaving the highway, the car entered a slide and hit a county road approach causing the vehicle to go airborne. It rolled one time ejecting Johnson and the front seat passenger Dylan Bookhout, 23, of Afton. A second passenger,Jeremy Speth, 27, also from Afton, was in the back seat and remained in the car.

Johnson died at the scene.
Bookhout and Speth were taken by ground ambulance to Star Valley Medical Center in Afton and hospitalized. Their condition was unknown at the time of this release.
The occupants were not wearing their seat belts.
The Highway Patrol is investigating speed and alcohol use as contributing factors in this crash.
The highway was temporarily closed with traffic being detoured around the crash scene.
Johnson is projected to be the 76th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 81 fatalities during this same time period in 2014.
