The results still stand after the recounts of votes -- the only two necessary in Natrona County -- for the races for the town councils of Mills and Evansville, according to the Natrona County Clerk's office.

In the contest for Mills Town Council, Mary Ellen Renz held on to second place with 333 votes to beat third-place finisher Ruth M. Pitts with 328 votes, according to the unofficial results.

In the contest for Evansville Town Council, Joseph A. Knop held on to second place with 184 votes to beat third-place finisher Michael Botkin with 181 votes.

The results of Wednesday's recount were unchanged from the initial tally of unofficial results from Tuesday's general election, said Natrona County Clerk Renea Vitto, whose office oversees elections.

The recounts, the only two necessary in the county, were triggered when the numbers of votes of the second- and third-place finishers were less than 1.0 percent of the votes cast in those races.

The county's canvassing board will make the election results official for all races on Friday.
