A Montana man is dead and a New York man has been hospitalized after a two-vehicle head-on crash west of Kemmerer in Lincoln County.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 29-year-old Allen Halsted of Butte, Mont., was driving eastbound on U.S. 30 Monday evening when his car crossed the highway’s center line and hit the westbound tractor trailer of 33-year-old Eric Stamour of Regis, N.Y.

Halsted was found dead at the scene.

Wyoming Highway Patrol officials believe alcohol use was a contributing factor in Halsted’s death.

Stamour was transported to South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer after the crash. He was cited by the Wyoming Highway Patrol for having an invalid commercial driver’s license and a false log book.
