The term “convenience foods” is often applied to overly processed foods that are high in fat, sodium, or sugar. But that’s not the whole picture. There’s conveniently good news at the grocery store.

Convenience foods are being packaged to be healthful and helpful. Think chopped salad greens, frozen cooked rice, cubed melon, pineapple wedges, hard-cooked eggs, yogurt with granola, sliced mushrooms, shredded cheese, and roasted chicken. Look for jarred pasta sauce that’s lower in sodium and pair it with whole –grain pasta. With a prewashed lettuce salad, that’s dinner in less than 30 minutes.

Place a trimmed fish filet on a sheet of foil, top with sliced mushrooms and baby spinach leaves. Pull the foil up, fold the edges tightly and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. That’s dinner in less than 30 minutes.

To thawed frozen rice, stir in canned black beans and salsa. Add some shredded cheese and wrap in a whole-wheat tortilla. That’s dinner in less than 30 minutes. These foods can be part of your LiveBest strategy.  Learn more at LiveBest.info
