The Laramie County Sheriff's Office is warning residents not to fall for a scam in which someone claiming to be with the department calls asking for a donation to help keep the roads safe.

"The Laramie County Sheriff's Office will never ask you for personal information or any form of payment over the phone," the agency said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

The LCSO says the scam calls generally originate outside of its jurisdiction and are not investigated by any agency.

"If you have questions or would like to make us aware of a scam, you can call 633-4751," the post reads. "If you’ve lost money to a scam and need to file a report, please call 637-6524 to speak with a Deputy."
