AN ETHETE MAN WAS SENTENCED TO 108 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF 12 COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE LAST YEAR.

FEDERAL COURT RECORDS SAY
U.S. DISTRICT COURT JUDGE SCOTT SKAVDAHL HANDED DOWN THE SENTENCE TO MARVIN WAYNE MAGNAN DURING A HEARING ON MONDAY.

THE CASE STARTED WITH A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FILED BY A LANDER-BASED FBI AGENT LAST APRIL, BUT THE INVESTIGATION STARTED LONG BEFORE THAT.

IN SEPTEMBER 2012, THE AGENT INTERVIEWED TWO GIRLS WHO WERE IN LATE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND EARLY HIGH SCHOOL WHEN THEY SAID MAGNAN REPEATEDLY SEXUALLY ASSAULTED THEM IN 2005 AND 2006.

IN NOVEMBER 2015, THE AGENT INTERVIEWED MAGNAN WHO SAID HE HAD THE GIRLS ACCOMPANY HIM A FEW TIMES WHEN HE CHECKED ON HORSES HE HAD NEAR ETHETE HAD SIX YEARS BEFORE THAT, BUT DENIED HAVING ANY INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL CONTACT.

LAST JULY, A GRAND JURY HANDED UP A 12-COUNT INDICTMENT AGAINST MAGNAN WITH TWO COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ABUSE, SEVEN COUNTS OF ABUSIVE SEXUAL CONTACT, ONE COUNT OF SEXUAL ABUSE, AND TWO COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE OF A MINOR.

THE INCIDENTS ALLEGEDLY HAPPENED FROM 1999 TO 2011, BUT THE INDICTMENT IS UNCLEAR HOW MANY ALLEGED VICTIMS WERE INVOLVED.

THE CASE WENT TO TRIAL LAST FALL, AND A JURY FOUND HIM GUILTY OF ALL 12 COUNTS ON SEPTEMBER 22.

WHAT STARTED AS A QUIET MORNING OF CLEANING TIRES DIDN’T STAY THAT WAY FOR LONG AFTER A MAINTENANCE WORKER AT NATRONA COUNTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REPORTEDLY STUMBLED ACROSS FOUR BAGS OF COCAINE WHILE CLEANING AN OLD TRUCK TIRE ON TUESDAY.

ACCORDING TO A SHERIFF’S OFFICE INCIDENT REPORT, THE MAINTENANCE WORKER WAS TASKED WITH CLEANING TIRES WHICH WERE MOUNTED ON RIMS AT THE AIRPORT SHOOTING RANGE NEAR COMMERCE DRIVE AND SIX MILE ROAD.

THE MAN TOOK A PICKUP LOAD OF TIRES TO THE MAINTENANCE SHOP SO HE COULD TAKE THE TIRES OFF THE RIMS.

IT WASN’T LONG BEFORE THE MAN REPORTEDLY LOOKED INSIDE AN OLD GOODYEAR TRUCK TIRE AND FOUND FOUR PLASTIC BAGS WRAPPED WITH DUCT TAPE AND LABELED “COCAINE” WITH BLACK MARKER.

A DEPUTY RESPONDED AT ABOUT 8:25 A.M. AND TURNED THE SUSPECTED COCAINE OVER THE DCI SHORTLY AFTER 9 A.M. AUTHORITIES HAVE NOT DISCLOSED THE AMOUNT OF COCAINE ALLEGEDLY FOUND.

IN THE REPORT, IT’S NOTED THAT THE SHOOTING RANGE IS ONLY SEPARATED FROM SIX MILE ROAD BY A PASTURE FENCE. IT IS EVIDENTLY COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AREA RESIDENTS USED THE AREA TO DUMP TIRES AND TRASH.

THE DEPUTY WAS ABLE TO USE THE VEGETATION ON THE TIRE TO FIND THE SPOT WHERE THE MAINTENANCE WORKER PICKED IT UP. NOTHING ELSE WAS FOUND IN THE AREA, AND NO IDENTICAL TIRES WERE FOUND IN THE AREA OF THE SHOOTING RANGE.

NO SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED.

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THIS CASE CAN CALL THE WYOMING DIVISION OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION.

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Crews are working to spread out a massive snow pile so it can thaw in Jackson.

The 55-foot-high snow mountain is estimated to be about 52,371 cubic yards, the largest snow pile Jackson has had in years.

The snow was packed into the mountain after it was cleared from Jackson's streets. Since then it has been the subject of sledding envy and office pools trying to gauge its size.

The snow is now being spread over fairgrounds so sun, rain and wind can whittle it down.
