This summer, there has been a lot of hiking, with many Wyoming State Parks, other state agencies, and organizations offering guided hikes. You can add another park to the list, as Guerney State Park has the Newell Bay guided hike coming July 18.

Guernsey State Park is a 6,000-acre state park surrounding Guernsey Reservoir that offers a variety of water recreation, day-use, and overnight camping opportunities. All in all, there are over 14 miles of hiking trails around the park; one of them is Newell Bay Trail, which will be featured July 18.

Newell Bay Trail is a 2.8-mile out-and-back trail that offers an intermediate-level hiking experience. Begin your journey at the upper Brimmer Point trailhead. This enjoyable trail features some vertical challenges. If you're looking for a longer hike, consider extending your adventure onto Brimmer Point.

If you're interested in doing more hiking around the park, the 2nd Annual Trail Challenge is underway and designed to encourage anyone to get out and explore.
Of course, like the Newell guided hike, they offer guided hikes, or if you want to go it alone, you can still be a part of the challenge. Prizes are being offered to hikers who complete 25, 50, or 75+ miles. Also, you're encouraged to snap a selfie with the trail you're blazing and post it to the park's Facebook or Instagram pages.
If you want to get started, you can scan the QR code in the Facebook post below or click this link, which has all the information about the challenges and the park.
