If you've ever been lucky enough to harvest an elk and fill your freezer, you know how big elk are. Adult bull elk can weigh between 700 and 1100 pounds, an adult cow elk can average between 500 and 600 pounds. Elk are wild animals that can injure you if your approach them.

You would think people would know that by now, but they just don't seem to catch on to the obvious sometimes.

It's so bad, that there are Social Media pages that are dedicated to these folks. One of my favorites to frequent is the Tourons Of National Parks Instagram page. I try to visit the page daily, just to see the latest and greatest actions of tourists.

Just a couple of days ago, I was scrolling through and low-and-behold the page didn't let me down. A video with the hashtags #TouronsOfYellowstone and #YellowstoneNationalPark, telling us that it's another situation happening in Wyoming.

The video begins with an animal figure standing behind a tree and a voice in the background asking:

Do they get aggressive?

Then you hear a male voice saying

Ma'am, could you please....

Before the man could finish his warning, a cow elk is darting out from behind the tree and going after a woman. When this happens, the camera man fails to follow the elk and doesn't capture the moment of impact. Then pans over and a woman is laying on the ground with the cow elk backing away from her.

You then hear the man say...

I was just going to tell you, that you were too close to that elk....and that's why. 25 yards ma'am.

Take a look at the video and always remember to keep your distance, be vigilant and don't end up on any of the Touron pages:
