As spring football practice continues at the University of Wyoming, so does the development of the defensive tackle position.

After the loss of seniors Sidney Malauulu and Conner Cain, the Cowboys still possess experience at the position with juniors Ravontae Holt and Javaree Jackson leading the charge. Holt has even caught the eye of Coach Bohl a number times during these spring practices. The other veteran presence is junior Justis Borton.

There are three other younger players getting plenty of repetitions this spring in sophomore Victor Jones and redshirt freshmen Cole Godbout and Mario Mora in the mix.

Jackson and Mora have been a little hampered due to injuries this spring.

Wyoming assistant Pete Kaligis is the defensive tackles coach. He spoke with KOWB’s David Settle about the progress of that spot, plus areas for improvement, how Holt and Jackson are leading the charge, the growth of the younger guys, and what needs to happen to finish spring in a positive manner.

The Cowboys have two practices left after Tuesday’s 13th session. The annual Spring Game is Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. from War Memorial Stadium in Laramie.
