Despite shortages being reported throughout much of Casper and the state of Wyoming, health officials in Midwest say they actually have a flu vaccine surplus.

Michael Smith, the director of the Midwest Community Clinic, says officials within his facility anticipated a particularly difficult flu season and over-ordered the vaccine.

“Between the state vaccine and our private stock, we have over 250 doses of vaccine that we can still shoot,” Smith said Wednesday afternoon.

Smith says his clinic holds flu treatment services and administers flu shots in Casper from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Salvation Army. Smith says his clinic will consider holding additional flu treatment services in Casper if a need is present.
