Governor Unveils Supplemental Budget Recommendations
Governor Matt Mead unveiled his supplemental budget recommendations on Monday.
Governor Mead said “we have more than adequate resources to fund government operations; invest in infrastructure and excellence at the University of Wyoming and community colleges; and provide additional resources to local government.”
The governor's 2015 Supplemental Budget Recommendations include $25 million for local governments, $6.4 million for municipal waste and transfer loan and grant program, $20 million for the Rochelle Athletic Center and $27.5 million for U.W. matching funds. The governor is aslo asking for capitol construction at community colleges and for $21.2 million for passing lanes on highways such as Highway 59 to respond to the increase in traffic and crashes. Governor Mead’s budget message to legislators emphasizes the need to evaluate the state’s fiscal policy and to set the course for the future.
Revenues are substantial and ongoing expenditures are relatively flat. It is the right time to ask questions and begin to make decisions about the right amounts for saving and the right amount for investments in infrastructure,” Governor Mead said.
The governor will present his supplemental budget to the Joint Appropraitions Committee when it meets in Cheyenne December 15-19.
