Cheyenne Residents Sentenced to Prison on Meth Charges

A Cheyenne man and woman who pleaded guilty to methamphetamine charges were sentenced Tuesday, Nov. 5, in federal court.

U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson sentenced 39-year-old Lamont Dubois Sturgis to 130 months in prison and five years of supervised release and 44-year-old Janelle Kay Iddings to 70 months in prison and four years of supervised release.

Both were sentenced for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Sturgis was also sentenced for carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime and Iddings for distribution of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, the two conspired to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine between Nov. 1, 2017 and June 6, 2018, the use of which resulted in the death of Shaun Gilkey.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation investigated the case.
