A review of the city of Casper's fire fighting response ability places the city near the top of the insurance classification rating system.

According to Casper Fire Chief, Mark Young, following an audit last fall the city was able to maintain it's rating of three. That's on a scale of 1 to 10. One being the highest.

Young says bringing the city to the next level would involve considerable financial investment.

"I think over the next 15 years we might be able to work towards that, but we're just real happy. Our goal was to maintain that three and not to increase people's insurance."

The audit takes place every 10 to 15 years and looks at the fire department and it capabilities, water supply, and emergency communications.

According to a release from the city of Casper lower fire insurance premiums for commercial properties boosts economic development.
