Casper native Kyle Keith has been drafted by the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball in the 22nd round. Keith was the 674th selection overall and for the past 2 years, he has pitched for Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. His last year in Casper was in 2013 as a pitcher for the American Legion Oilers and was named the AA pitcher of the year in that season. Keith then played for one year at Dawson Community College in Montana and then took a year off for Tommy John arm surgery. He returned to baseball and Lane College and went 5-4 as a starter for the Titans this season.

Keith has verbally committed to Southern Miss and the question is whether he will continue to go to college or join the Ranger minor league system. The last Casper player to be drafted was Dusty Harvard in 2010 by the Chicago White Sox
