Casper Man Named As Big Lottery Winner
A Casper man has been named as the person who won close to $750,000 in a Cowboy Draw lottery jackpot. Michael Wieser, a Wyoming native, bought the winning ticket for the March 13th draw at the Mountain View Conoco on Yellowstone Highway. Lottery officials say he didn't find out he was the winner until the morning after the draw.
“I was holding my coffee and just shaking when we read the numbers, and I was told I won it all,” Wieser said. The Jackpot of $746,022 was the fifth largest Cowboy Draw Jackpot. According to WyoLotto, Wieser stashed the ticket in the safe place, and started toward his job. He called his boss for advice. “My boss told me not to try and work, and instead get to Cheyenne as quick as I could,” Wieser said.
Wieser works at Sheet Metal Specialties in Casper.“I will definitely keep working there, " he said. "I love what I do and everyone I work with.”
Wieser says he'll use some of the money to take a spring break vacation to the Grand Canyon with his girlfriend and their children, and says he plans to put aside plenty for his 10-year-old daughter for college. Other plans include upgrading his pickup and paying off medical bills.
The Cowboy Draw turned two this month. It was launched in March of 2015 as the first WyoLotto game sold only in Wyoming, and officials say it had more than $8.9 million dollars in winnings in the last year alone.
