Casper Man Arrested for Allegedly Strangling Girlfriend

A Casper man has been arrested after a fight with his girlfriend during which he is accused of choking her.

John Fernandez had driven to his girlfriend’s house to give her a ride to another friend’s house, and the woman told officers she didn’t want to go.

She also said in the affidavit that when Fernandez arrived, he seemed drunk. When she refused to go with him, an argument began. The fight became physical when she says he read a text to her boss on her mobile phone.

The woman said the fight escalated to the point where she claims he was choking her to near unconsciousness.

She ran from the home and twice, he dragged her from neighbor’s yards. The girlfriend managed finally to get inside a neighbor’s home and the neighbor called police.

Officers report they saw marks on the woman’s neck and scratches and arrested John Fernandez for domestic battery, strangulation of a family member and unlawful entry into the neighbor’s home.

Fernandez is in custody at the Natrona County Detention Center.
