Casper City Council Gives Initial Nod to Senior Living Project
The Casper City Council on Tuesday approved on first reading an ordinance to change the zoning for land in south central Casper for a senior, multifamily residential project.
Housing Solutions, LLC, intends to build a three-story apartment building called Meadowlark Vista with 34 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom units for seniors 55 and older, according to its proposal in the agenda for the council's meeting.
The rents will be $448-672 for the one-bedroom units and $538-807 for the two-bedroom units, and they will remain for 65 years, company representative Tyler Currance told the council.
The project will be financed with federal housing tax credits awarded by the Wyoming Community Development Authority. It intends to begin construction in the spring and open in 2021.
The 1.65-acre parcel at the northwest corner of Southwest Wyoming Boulevard and South Coffman Avenue was part of a 7.55-acre parcel zoned for a Planned Unit Development 20 years ago for a retail building and 18 twin homes, but the project never materialized, according to a memo in the agenda.
The PUD is now being broken up and sold or developed in separate parcels.
