Burlesque Comes to Casper
The age-old, and often bawdy, form of entertainment, known as "burlesque," will be landing in Casper this weekend.
The Casper-based Keyhole Peepshow Burlesque Entertainment company is presenting "Bayou Burlesque," a Mardi Gras themed burlesque review. The show will be the first presented by the company, however company founder, Fathom Swanson, has mounted Casper burlesque shows before.
Swanson has been a burlesque artist for the last ten years, saying that she first began by doing a routine at a friend's birthday party. "Then, people started asking me to do private parties," Swanson says. "I restore vintage things, so burlesque is just a natural part of my life."
Most recently, Swanson was among the original members of the Laramie Burlesque troop, which has grown successful over the last few years. Swanson says that burlesque in Casper has had a small start but it is growing. With each show that she has put on, she's seen and increase in crowds and and increase in interested local performers.
Bayou Burlesque is Friday March 7th, at the Wolcott Galleria (136 S. Wolcott Street). Doors open at 7:00 pm, the show starts at 8:00 pm. Both local and traveling performers will be part of the night's entertainment which includes comedy, dance and strip-tease.
The show is for people age 18 and over. A cash bar will be available for those over 21. Tickets can be purchased at the door and will-call tickets can be purchased, in advance, here:
