This annual event welcomes all community members — though focuses on school-aged children and their families — to help celebrate the beginning of a new school year. The Back-to School Bash is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Casper Events Center and is a FREE event.

This year’s theme, “Reading allows you to walk in someone else’s shoes,” focuses on literacy, one of the NCSD Board of Trustees’ primary goals.

Vendors will include for-profit businesses that have services for families and not-for-profit organizations.  As of the end of July, there are 70 vendors signed up, all of which will have goodies to give away. All vendors will have activities for kids and will pass out information about their services. For-profits will have school supply and/or book giveaways.

Other activities include the Denver Zoo with bring small animals for kids to see and touch,
the Denver Museum of Nature and Science will bring two traveling exhibits, the local Wyoming National Guard Recruiters and Cheyenne’s ARNG Counter-Drug Program will be present. They will have their rock climbing walls, one of which will be located inside and the other will be located outside.
Wagon Wheel will bring their inflatable bouncers, which are always a hit with the kids.
Casper Police Department will bring two squad cars: one new, one from 1931. They will also have a K9 team to do drug-in-backpack demonstrations. In addition the Casper Planetarium will host a stomp rocket competition, which was a big hit last year.

There will be several  giveaways, including backpacks stuffed with school supplies and eReaders.

The Stuff the Bus school supply drive will culminate at the Bash as well, donations will be accepted and appreciated!
