Two former Wyoming Cowboys will be showcasing their talents in college football all-star games Saturday in Florida and California, respectively.

Former safety Andrew Wingard will participate in the East-West Shrine Game from St. Petersburg, FL at 1 p.m., Mountain Time, Saturday. The game will be televised on NFL Network.

Wingard is on the West Team, which features six other players from Mountain West schools.

The former Cowboy has been showing out in practice leading up to Saturday’s game.

Wingard was a three-time First Team All-MW selection his final three seasons with the Pokes. He was a Second Team All-MW honoree his freshman season. Wingard concluded his career tied for the MW Conference record with 454 tackles. He finished second all-time in school history for career tackles and 20th in the NCAA. Wingard started all 50 games of his college career and was also a Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American.

Even bigger news came Thursday, as Wingard received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Feb. 26 through March 4. It’s the second straight year a former Wyoming Cowboy has been invited. Former UW and now Buffalo Bills’ QB Josh Allen attended last year.

Former running back Nico Evans will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. That game starts at 3 p.m., Mountain Time, and will be aired on FS1.

Evans is on the American Team coached by former UW safety and former Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Chuck Pagano.

Evans led the MW and ended up No. 4 in the country with an average of 132.5 rushing yards per game. His 1,325 yards is the fourth-most in a single season in Wyoming football history. He even missed two games due to injury.

Evans earned First Team All-MW honors for the first time in his career in 2018.

A third former Cowboy, defensive end Carl Granderson, will be in next week’s Reese’s Senior Bowl.
