The first of what is expected to be numerous lists that Wyoming senior safety Andrew Wingard’s name appears on was released Tuesday.

Wingard was named the Second Team Preseason All-America team by NFLDraftScout.com.

He’s one of only four players from a “Group of Five” school on either the first or second team. He’s joined by Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver (First Team), Toledo punter returner Diante Johnson (Second Team) and Memphis kick returner Tony Pollard (Second Team).

Wingard is a two-time First-Team All-Mountain West honoree. He finished his junior season ranked fourth in total career tackles, at 9.41 per game, among active Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players. Wingard is No. 2 is solo tackles per game among active FBS players, at 5.85.

Wyoming opens Fall Camp in late July. The 2018 season begins at New Mexico State August 25.
