With 2 successful fundraisers in the past several months, an energized board of directors and a well prepared cadre of musicians, there is a lot for the Music Director of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra to smile about. Matthew Savery stopped by the studio this morning and shared this synopsis of Saturday's show.

 

Romantic Greats w/ Spencer Myer – October 1, 2011 – 7:30pm
The passion and drama of the Romantic period will be on display in the stunning opening of our 62nd concert season.We’ll begin with Glinka’s exuberant and brilliantly orchestrated Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla. Next, we’ll welcome back pianist Spencer Myer, gold medalist from the 2008 New Orleans International Piano Competition, performing the virtuosic and universally adored second Piano Concerto by Camille Saint-Saens. Finally we’ll tackle Tchaikovsky’s crowning achievement; the deeply profound Symphony no. 6, better known as the Pathetique.
