The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says it will lure elk away from a historic feeding ground using a trail of hay.

The Jackson Hole News and Guide reported wildlife managers want to lure elk away from the historic Alkali feed ground to the state-owned Patrol Cabin feed ground.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest has reauthorized use of the Alkali area, but officials want to move the elk along the Gros Ventre River corridor in response to recent litigation.

The move is aimed at preventing the potential spread of chronic wasting disease from deer to the human-fed elk population.
