CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Highway Patrol is set to go to trial in February after the agency's first female police dog handler said she was discriminated against because she is a woman.

Delsa Sanderson sued the agency early last year, saying she was harassed by male troopers while she was working in Laramie. She also said she was given a sexually explicit nickname, and someone started a rumor that she was having a sexual relationship with a supervisor.

Judge Scott Skavdahl dismissed Sanderson's claims of a hostile environment and that she was retaliated against for complaining to her superiors. He said she hadn't exhausted other remedies for the retaliation claim and couldn't show she was subject to the type of harassment that would constitute a hostile environment.

But Skavdahl also declined a Highway Patrol request to dismiss the discrimination claim.
