Wyoming Authorities Bust Couple With Over 100 Pounds of Marijuana
A California couple face felony drug charges after being stopped for speeding on Interstate 80 in southwestern Wyoming, leading officers to find over 100 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
Nicholas Wyatt Haws, 24, and 22-year-old Rayna M. Quiocho each a charge of unlawful manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance after being stopped on Saturday.
The Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office says a K9 team stopped a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica at about 9:15 a.m. The Pacifica was allegedly traveling 90 mph in a 75-mph speed zone on I-80.
A search of the minivan allegedly revealed five duffel bags containing 106.92 pounds of marijuana packaged in vacuum-sealed bags. Haws and Quiocho were arrested.
Since late October, the sheriff's office has seized nearly 800 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of "well over" $4 million.
