LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A University of Wyoming art major from Rock River has been commissioned to complete a painting and make prints for the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Cassidy Newkirk will paint a picture of the USS Arizona, the battleship that was destroyed during a Japanese surprise attack Dec. 7, 1941.

The painting was commissioned by the Arizona Final Salute Foundation.

The painting will be unveiled during the anniversary ceremony in Honolulu to honor six remaining survivors. Newkirk says there will be 41 prints made of her painting that will be signed by her and the six survivors.

The prints will be sold for $1,177 each. The number represents how many men were killed on the Arizona.
