Wyoming Governor Matt Mead will kick off the 2018 Session of the Wyoming Legislature with his annual "State of the State'' address.

The 2018 session is slated as a 20-day budget session. While non-budget items can be considered, it takes a 2/3 majority vote of lawmakers to introduce non-budget items. While there had been discussions in recent months about possible new property and sales taxes, an improving state economy has raised the possibility that few or even no tax increases may be approved by lawmakers.

A proposal to increase tobacco taxes has been filed for the session, and other tax proposals could still be put forward.

But in general, the prospect of large across the board tax increases has probably diminished greatly compared to several months ago.
