LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A conservative student group at the University of Wyoming has been suspended by the college's student government from receiving student fee funding.

The suspension imposed by the Associated Students of the University of Wyoming against Turning Point USA occurred over the group bringing in conservative commentator Dennis Prager.

ASUW President Ben Wetzel says Turning Point violated several policies on how to promote and host an event.

Turning Point chapter President Jessica Leach acknowledges the group violated a few policies but maintains they were minor violations that don't warrant suspension.

Leach says the suspension is politically motivated and her group is appealing.

Wetzel denied any political motivation.

He says Turning Point is the first student group to be penalized but can still seek other funding during the suspension.
