LCpl Rylee McCollum was killed in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021, when a suicide bomber attacked his unit. His sisters and widow are named as plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

This year the Casper Chase will honor Rylee McCollum, who was among the 13 US service members killed in a suicide bombing during the evacuation at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The suit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning the McCollums could refile.
