Wyoming Insurance Commissioner Tom Glause has gotten a court order to take over operations of WINhealth after the company announced it would shut down operations in Wyoming.

Laramie County District Judge Thomas Campbell signed the order allowing the action to allow the state to take over daily operations of the insurance company in Wyoming.

WINhealth has been placed in a rehabilitation receivership to protect customers of the company in the Cowboy state. WINhealth is the second largest health insurer in Wyoming with roughly 13,500 customers.

Although the state will now take over company operations, WINhealth won't be selling new insurance plans.
