CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Part of Guernsey State Park will reopen in time for the weekend after a wildfire chased campers and visitors out last Saturday.

State Parks Division Administrator Domenic Bravo says crews were working Thursday to remove hazardous trees and clean up debris.

The plan is to reopen about a third of park Friday afternoon, including Sandy Beach, Sandy Beach boat ramp, Cottonwood Cove and Long Canyon areas. The Newell Bay boat ramp and area will be closed.

Skyline Drive will be open but Lakeshore Drive on the east side of Guernsey Reservoir will remain closed.

The wildfire burned about 2,700 acres since last Saturday. It is mostly out now but fire crews are still mopping up a few hot spots.

The fire destroyed one private cabin but park facilities were sparred.
