A Washington state man was killed while driving a motorcycle along Interstate-80 Saturday afternoon. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, 68-year-old Donald Carriker of Longview, Washington, was westbound on I-80 about 13 miles west of Elk Mountain shortly before 3:00 p.m. Saturday, when a semi hit his motorcycle from behind.

Investigators say the driver of the semi was checking the position of an oversized load that was passing him, then looked up and saw Carriker’s motorcycle. Troopers say the semi driver applied the brakes, but was not able to prevent the collision. The crash remains under investigation, and those details will be forwarded to the CarbondCounty Attorney’s office for review of possible criminal charges.
