Microsoft To Build Data Center Near Cheyenne [AUDIO]
Microsoft has agreed to invest up to $112 million dollars to build a new data center near Cheyenne. The project may break ground by early summer.
Governor Matt Mead made the announcement today. Here's an excerpt from what he had to say.
The state has pledged $10.7 million in grants and incentives for the project. Mead says that the data center promises to generate $25 million in tax revenues over five years and may ultimately employ about 40 people.
Mead has pushed the wyoming legislature to set aside grant money to lure technology companies to the state. he says he's hopeful that having microsoft locate a major facility in cheyenne will bring in more companies and high-paying jobs.
