Judge Sentences 2 In Illegal Hunting Case In Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Ten Sleep rancher has been fined $5,000 for helping out-of-state hunters use his family's tags to kill animals and take them home.

The Associated Press reports Richard Carter Sr. was sentenced Wednesday to four years of probation. He has voluntarily paid $10,000 in restitution to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. He is banned from hunting for three years.

Also Wednesday, Oregon hunter Matt Robinson was sentenced to two years of probation. He was fined $2,500 and must pay $7,500 restitution for killing bull elks in 2005 and 2008 on the Carters' property without his own license. He can't hold a hunting license during his probation.

Another Oregon hunter and Carter's sons R.C. and Mark Carter were sentenced earlier in the case.
