Wyoming football fans can finally breathe a big sigh of relief. It’s been confirmed, Josh Allen will return to the Cowboys for the 2017 season.

It was first reported by Matt Miller, who is Bleacher Report’s NFL Draft lead writer, via Twitter Wednesday night. More media reports have added to the confirmation.

A Second Team All-Mountain West selection, Allen threw for 3,203 yards and 28 touchdowns with 15 interceptions during his redshirt sophomore season in 2016. He completed 56 percent of his passes and added 712 rushing yards with seven TD’s on the ground.

Wyoming has to replace its starting running back, center, two receivers and a tight end. Three of those players were First Team All-MW in 2016. One of those players, Brian Hill, will forego his senior season in Laramie. He announced that decision on Dec. 26.

The deadline for underclassman to declare for the NFL Draft is Jan. 16.

With Allen coming back to Laramie, there's some buzz around the Cowboys for 2017.
