Cheyenne Woman Gets 65 Months for Trafficking Fentanyl

A 35-year-old Cheyenne woman has been sentenced to 65 months in federal prison after selling fentanyl that resulted in the death of a woman.

According to court documents, the deceased woman was found in her bedroom on Sept. 25, 2022, with a foil with a burnt blue fentanyl pill next to her and four more pills in her room.

The decedent’s cell phone contained text conversations showing that she had purchased the pills from Ashley Hyatt the day prior.

Further investigation revealed that Hyatt was involved with the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine from September 2022 through her arrest on May 18, 2023.

This investigation included the seizure of approximately 280 grams of methamphetamine and 472 fentanyl pills from Hyatt's home in October 2022 and the possession of approximately 60 grams of fentanyl from her arrest on May 18.

Hyatt was indicted in May and pled guilty in July to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl.

Hyatt will be subject to four years of supervised release once she's released from prison.
