Wyoming High School Wrestling Scoreboard: Jan. 3-6-2024

A new year brings on a lot of action for wrestling in Wyoming. There are a handful of duals before the weekend. The major event is the Shane Shatto Memorial in Douglas on Friday and Saturday. Shoshoni is hosting a duals tournament on Saturday. A few teams are headed out of state this weekend as well. All schedules are subject to change.

Boys: Moorcroft is 2nd overall after day one with 138 pts. 

Richardson Memorial in Brigham City, UT (boys only)  = Evanston, Star Valley

Results: Star Valley sits in 4th after the first day with 103 pts and Evanston is 10th.  

Tom LeProwse Tournament in Bozeman, MT = Cody, Powell, Sheridan (girls only), Worland 

Girls: Sheridan is in 11th after day one and leads the WY teams. Powell is 12th and Worland 13th. 

Boys: Powell leads all WY teams in 10th, Cody is 16th, and Worland is 10th. 

Tournament of Champions in Vernal, UT = Cokeville (boys only), Green River, Kemmerer, Lyman, Pinedale, Rawlins, Rock Springs

Girls: Pinedale leads all WY girls teams in 4th, Green River is 9th, and Kemmerer is 12th. 

Boys: Green River is the leader of the WY teams in 3rd place. Pinedale is 5th, Rawlins and Rock Springs are tied for 6th.

Girls: Cheyenne East won with 162.5 pts and 5 wrestlers in the top three. Campbell County was 2nd and Chardon (NE) took 3rd. 

Boys: The Thunderbirds won with 205 pts and 7 wrestlers in the top three, including Kozad Porter who was 1st at 132 lbs. Thunder Basin took 2nd and Natrona County was 3rd. 

Shoshoni Duals at Shoshoni HS = Big Piney, Greybull/Riverside, Rocky Mountain, Saratoga, Shoshoni, Wind River, Wyoming Indian - no results reported 

Best of the West in Tooele, UT (girls only) = Evanston

Results: The Red Devils took 13th with 70 pts off Sidney Liechty's 2nd place finish at 115 lbs.

Hettinger Classic in Hettinger, ND = Moorcroft, Newcastle/Upton (girls only)

Girls: Moorcroft finished 6th and Newcastle was 7th. 

Boys: Moorcroft was 2nd with 212 pts (including JV pts) with Dayne Humes 1st-place finish at 114 lbs and 3 other 2nd-pace wrestlers. 

MC Filly Invite in Hyrum, UT (girls only) = Star Valley 

Results: The Braves won the title with 209 pts. The Lady Braves had 3 champions, Carly Angell, Remington Aullman, and Veil Foreman, and 9 other placers.

Richardson Memorial in Brigham City, UT (boys only) = Evanston, Star Valley 

Results: Star Valley was 3rd overall and Evanston 10th. The Braves had 3 1st-place wrestlers at their respective weight classes: Kimball Parry, Levi Byrd, and Tel Parry. 

Tom LeProwse Tournament in Bozeman, MT = Cody, Powell, Sheridan (girls only), Worland 

Girls: Sheridan finished the best out of WY teams in 7th. Becca Oetkan was 1st at 235 lbs for the Broncs. Sheridan had two other top-three wrestlers. Worland was 14th and Powell in 16th. 

Boys: Powell was the top finisher out of the WY teams. Cody was 15th and Worland in 21st. 

Traeden McPherson Memorial in Montpelier, ID (boys only) = Jackson, Mountain View

Results: Jackson finished 2nd with 141 pts and 2 1st-place wrestlers in Camron Kendall and Brennan Mcgowan. The Broncs also had 3 2nd-place wrestlers. Mountain View was 9th and Garrett Redden was 1st at 106 lbs for the Buffaloes.   

Tournament of Champions in Vernal, UT = Cokeville (boys only), Green River, Kemmerer, Lyman, Pinedale, Rawlins, Rock Springs 

Girls: Pinedale was 5th, best out of the WY teams. The Wranglers had two first-place wrestlers, McKinzie Mortensen and Katyana Dexter. Kemmerer came in 9th and Green River was 10th. 

Boys: Green River was the top WY team at 5th. The Wolves' top wrestler was James Herwaldt, who was 2nd at 165 lbs. Rawlins was 6th and Pinedale was 7th.
