Week 6 of the prep track season in Wyoming is underway. Twelve track meets will be contested in the state, which is the most in a single week so far this season. Sheridan moved their Tuesday track meet to Monday due to incoming weather. Other meets are in Cheyenne, Wright, Afton, Gillette, Douglas, Green River, Pine Bluffs, Shoshoni, Sheridan, and Lovell. Only a few teams will venture out of state.

MONDAY, APRIL 15:

GARY BENSON BORDER WAR TRACK MEET at Sheridan HS (moved from Tuesday to Monday) – Big Horn, Campbell County, Cody, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Thunder Basin; out-of-state: Billings Senior (MT).

Girls: Sheridan's Mesa Hanft won the long & triple jump; no boy won more than 1 individual event.

Girls Team Scores = Sheridan 146.33, Thunder Basin 142, Kelly Walsh 106.33, Cody 99.50, Natrona County 84, Billings Senior 49.33, Campbell County 30.50.

TUESDAY, APRIL 16:

LARAMIE COUNTY THROW OFF at Cheyenne South HS – rescheduled for April 25 at 1 p.m.

PANTHER TWILIGHT at Wright HS – Hulett, Sundance, Upton, Wright.

Girls: Upton's Sophie Louderback won the 200 meters, long jump, & triple jump; Ahnya Ivie-Moody of Hulett won the 100 & 400 meters; Wright's Kylie Benim won the 800 & 1600 meters; Upton's Addison Gustaf swept the 2 hurdle races; Hulett's Myah Cornett won the high jump & shot put.

Boys: Upton's Ethan Schiller placed 1st in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump & triple jump; Wright's Tobyn Teigen won the 1600 & 3200 meters; Keaton Mills of Sundance won the high jump & discus.

Girls Team Scores = Wright 196.50, Upton 172, Hulett 97, Sundance 92.50. 

Boys Team Scores = Sundance 155, Upton 151, Wright 129, Hulett 74.

 

THURSDAY, APRIL 18:

DAVE DRANEY MEMORIAL at Star Valley HS in Afton at 10 a.m.Cokeville, Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Kemmerer, Lyman, Mountain View, Pinedale, Star Valley; out-of-state: Teton (ID).

No team scores were provided.

Girls: Star Valley's Valerie Jirak won the 100 & 400 meters & high jump; Star Valley's Kammi Merritt won the 200 meters & 300 hurdles; Pinedale's Katy Dexter swept the 2 throwing events.

Boys: Jackson's Waylon Cosby won the 100 & 200 meters; Star Valley's Habtamu Wetzel won the 400 & 1600 meters.

TBHS 9TH AND 10TH INVITATIONAL in Gillette - canceled due to the weather.

GRHS TRACK AND FIELD INVITE at Green River HS at 10 a.m. – Green River, Jackson, Rock Springs.

Girls: Brynn Bider of Rock Springs won the 100 & 200 meters; teammate Presley Nacey swept the 2 hurdle races; Green River won 3 of the 4 relays; Jackson's Rebecca Griebel won the long & triple jump; Lillian Allison of Green River swept the 2 throws.

Boys: Kael Anderson from Rock Springs won the 100 & 200 meters & long jump; teammate Ethan Sholey won the 800 & 1600 meters; Green River's Christopher Wilson won the 2 hurdle races & triple jump; Green River won 3 of the 4 relays.

Girls: Melody ZumBrunnen of Lusk swept the 100, 200, & 400 meters and won the long jump; Brynn Bach of Burns won the 100 hurdles & pole vault; Gracie ZumBrunnen of Lusk won the 800 meters & triple jump.

Boys: Ethan Norris of Burns swept the 2 hurdle races; Burns won all 4 relays; Nathan Miller of Lusk won the 100 meters & high jump; Cory Bruegger of Lusk won the long & triple jump.

Boys: Torrington's Tyler Bennick won the 2 throwing events.

Team finishes = Torrington was 2nd in the girls and 4th in the boys; LFL was 5th in the boys & 6th in the girls.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 20:

DAN HANSEN INVITATIONAL at Sheridan HS – Arvada-Clearmont, Big Horn, Buffalo, Kaycee, Moorcroft, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Tongue River; out-of-state = Lodge Grass (MT).

Girls: Sheridan's Addie Pendergast swept the 100, 200, & 400 meters; Buffalo's Carly Norman swept the 2 hurdle races & won the long jump; Sheridan won 3 of 4 relays.

Boys: Thunder Basin's Bradley Ekstrom won the 200 & 400 meters; Sheridan's Landrum Wiley won the 800 & 1600 meters; Sheridan's Garrett Otto won both hurdle races; Sheridan won the 3 relays; Big Horn's Gavin Stafford won the 100 meters and long jump; Natrona County's Ben Spencer won the throws.

Girls: Cherise Douzenis of Worland won the 100, 200, & 400 meters; teammate Anna Richardson won both hurdle races & the high jump; Powell's Waycee Harvey won the long & triple jump; teammate Katie O'Brien swept the throws.

Boys: Worland's Trajn Swalstad won the 1600 & 3200 meters; teammate Noah Mitchell won both hurdle races; Lovell's Gavin Robertson won the 100 meters & long jump.

Girls Team Scores = Powell & Worland -tied- 188, Lovell 54, Rocky Mountain 38, Burlington 27, Greybull 16.

Boys Team Scores = Lovell 148, Worland 142.50, Powell 127.50, Burlington 76, Rocky Mountain & Greybull -tied- 11.

DAVIS INVITATIONAL at Kaysville, UT – Evanston, Lyman, Mountain View

Team scores have not been posted as of 8 p.m.

Evanston's Ayden Hartzell won the boys' open 200 meters; Evanston's Kai Barker won the open 300 hurdles & invited high jump. Those were the only wins by WY competitors, but there were more top 3 finishes.
