The two previously mentioned states are the only two in the US that doesn't require auto insurance to be able to drive your vehicle. Since it's the US, there isn't one general rule for how much insurance you have to carry on your vehicle. Just know, in 48 of the states, you have to have it.
In Wyoming, even though you must to have insurance, you're not required to carry the size of policy that many states require.
According to Policy Genius, for 2024, in Wyoming you have to have a minimum of:
$25,000 bodily injury liability per person
$50,000 bodily injury liability per accident
$20,000 Property damage
Optional for personal injury protection and un/underinsured coverage.
What happens if you get caught driving a vehicle without insurance in Wyoming?
Bankrate.com offers that the penalties could be fines, license suspension, having to have insurance verification and possibly jail time. The fines could range from $250 up to $1,500. According to the site, jail time isn't a common penalty for not having insurance, but it sure could be if you're a repeat offender.
What happens if you are in an accident while driving and uninsured vehicle in Wyoming?
Even if it's not your fault, if you don't have insurance, you could get a fine, like listed above.
Wyoming is an at-fault state, this means the driver that caused the accident is required to use their insurance to pay...if you don't have insurance, guess who gets to foot the bill?
I'm not giving life or legal advice, but to me, it would be worth coming off a couple hundred a month to avoid having your life ruined by not having insurance.
